About Us: IBuySalem.com is owned and operated by me — Loni Barrett, a private real estate investor with 18 years of experience buying and selling real estate in the Salem area. I didn’t set out to be a real estate investor though. I bought a West Salem home in 2003. The home was beautiful but outdated with significant deferred maintenance issues. I found that I enjoyed home renovation and had an eye for design. Eventually, I bought another home and rather than selling, I rented out the West Salem house. Along the way I purchased another house… and then another!
I have worked with various contractors and built good working relationships. Likewise, I enjoy meeting with homeowners to discuss their needs. I try to provide helpful advice and sometimes I determine the homeowner has a better course of action to meet their needs, such as listing with an agent on MLS. Other times I will refer the homeowner to one of my investor associates who specialize in their type of property. Regardless, I always appreciate the opportunity to make an offer on Salem area homes.
Professional Affiliations
I am a member in good standing with the Northwest Real Estate Investors Association and Salem Rental Housing Association. I regularly attend meetings and classes to maintain my professional knowledge. Additionally, these associations allow access to a wide variety of real estate professionals, private investors, mortgage brokers, attorneys, accountants, contractors and other related individuals involved in the industry. I am also connected with tens of thousands of real estate investors and related professionals through my online involvement as a member of Connected Investors and a pro member of Bigger Pockets. I take advantage of the networking, training and resources offered at these real estate investment sites.
My Pledge as a Real Estate Investor
I pledge to deal with everyone fairly and to conduct myself in a legal and ethical manner at all times. My approach is to meet with the homeowner to review their home and their needs. I treat people with respect and keep personal information strictly confidential. I will usually be able to make an offer to purchase the home. Sometimes I can suggest alternatives to help the homeowner decide their best option. Whatever the outcome, I will respect the homeowner’s needs as a top priority.
